‘Songs for a New World’ takes the stage Sept. 21


FIU Theatre will present Songs for a New World, a musical revue written and composed by Jason Robert Brown, beginning Friday, Sept. 21, at Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

Professor Lesley-Ann Timlick directs this student production with a spectacular cast featuring Ashley Capo, Julio Liverpool, Jose Contreras, Caitlyn Lincoln and Amber Benson.

Since its debut at the WPA Theater in October 1995, Songs for a New World has been produced in major venues all over the world. Its centerpiece song, “Stars and the Moon,” has been recorded most famously by major broadway stars like Audra McDonald and Betty Buckley.

The show opens Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. and runs for two weeks (Wednesday through Sunday) at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center’s Black Box Theatre. Tickets range from $15-$20 and are available by calling the box office at 305-348-0496 or online by clicking here.
