Cuban Research Institute to present ‘Music for Martí’

The Cuban Research Institute at FIU will present “Classically Cuban: Music for Martí,” an anthology of music inspired by Jose Martí and his texts. Music selected and narrated by independent scholar Emilio Cueto will include pieces spanning more than 100 years by both Cuban and foreign authors. An ensemble of musicians, under the direction of FIU professor Armando Tranquilino, will play the selections. A reception will follow the concert.

Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for senior citizens and students, and $15 for FIU and University of Miami students, faculty and staff.

The concert will take place on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 5 p.m. on FIU’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus, Wertheim Performing Arts Center.
