What will FIU look like in 20 years?

This is your chance to influence how FIU will look in 2020 and beyond. The university’s 2010-2020 Campus Master Plan is currently being updated by the Perkins+Will planning team – a group of educational architects with more than 25 years of experience each – to create a sustainable vision for the future. The planning team is holding two public workshops to inform the community of future plans and get feedback on current master plan considerations.

The first part of each workshop will provide a presentation of work under way. Attendees will have a chance to ask questions and offer information. After the discussion, the planning team will recap major issues for further review. In the coming months, FIU will be evaluating development concepts, phasing, design guidelines and potential partnerships to implement the 2010-2020 Campus Master Plan.

Planning Sessions:

Dec. 3: MMC workshop, located in CBC Special Events Room, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Dec. 4: BBC workshop, located in WUC 221, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Please RSVP for the event here.

The inventory and analysis of all physical campus elements has been completed – driven by goals to integrate academic planning, accommodate enrollment projections, improve facilities, conserve open space, provide adequate utilities, and improve circulation. To meet State of Florida planning requirements, the master plan must integrate any new physical university development with its surrounding host communities. It must be understandable, defensible and comprehensive, and the process must be a collaborative one.
