Panther Camp is recognized nationally

Panther Camp – FIU’s popular, off-campus summer program – was highlighted in the latest book and DVD by PaperClip Communications as a “Best Practice” across the nation. PaperClip Communications is a specialty information company that provides online and printed resources for higher education and K-12 administrators.

“We are pleased to get this designation from a respected organization,” said University Ombudsman Larry Lunsford, interim vice president for Student Affairs. “Panther Camp is one of the division’s most successful programs, and it deserves this national recognition.”

Panther Camp was featured under the section titled “Orientation Innovations,” where the camp’s new programming geared toward transfer students was highlighted. Currently, the department of Orientation and Parent Programs offers four separate Panther Camp sessions, including one aimed specifically for transfer students, while the others continue to help freshmen adjust to college life.
