Cesar Alvarez reappointed to FIU Board of Trustees


Gov. Rick Scott has reappointed Cesar L. Alvarez to the Florida International University Board of Trustees.

Alvarez is executive chairman of Greenberg Traurig, LLP. He is reappointed for a term beginning February 8, 2013, and ending January 6, 2018. He joined Greenberg Traurig in 1973 as the firm’s 13th lawyer and practiced securities, corporate and international law for more than 25 years. He has represented numerous public companies and serves on the board of directors of several corporations and charitable organizations.

Alvarez also chairs the College of Law’s Advisory Board and has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the FIU Foundation. The National Law Journal has recognized Alvarez several times as one of the “100 Most Influential Lawyers in America.”

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
