The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine’s Faculty Group Practice now has expanded into Broward County, opening a second practice on the campus of Broward Health Medical Center.

The grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting for this new location will take place Friday, February 15 at 2:30 p.m. at 1600 S. Andrews Avenue, Suite 1090 in Ft. Lauderdale.

“This collaborative effort between FIU Health and Broward Health not only provides the South Florida community with a new option for first-rate medical care, but it also provides an educational venue for our third year medical students,” said Dr. John Rock, founding dean and vice president for health affairs.

The new practice is initially focused on providing multi-disciplinary outpatient psychiatric services for children, adolescents and adults. Services are provided by board certified psychiatrists Dr. Leonard Gralnik and Dr. Christopher L. La Riche, both faculty members at the Wertheim College of Medicine. There is also a licensed clinical therapist on staff.

“FIU Health and our expert faculty have always been committed to improving the mental health of the entire South Florida community, but this new location makes us much more accessible to residents in Broward and North Miami-Dade,” said Dr. Daniel Castellanos, professor and founding chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.

Plans are underway to add family medicine services and other specialties to FIU Health-Broward in the coming months, making it a multi-specialty practice.

FIU Health’s main clinical practice opened its doors more than a year ago on FIU’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus, providing state-of-the-art, comprehensive care by many of the best doctors in South Florida and nationally renowned medical faculty recruited by FIU to teach in the College of Medicine. The office specialties currently include family medicine, gynecologic oncology, infectious disease, gynecology, psychiatry, pulmonology, rheumatology, and endocrinology.
