Lecture explores unveiling of Islamic Hijab

The Department of Philosophy will be hosting a talk about the Islamic Hijab at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 in room 220 of the Green Library on FIU’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

Soroush Dabbah, visiting scholar at the University of Toronto, will explore the philosophical and jurisprudential perspectives of unveiling. In particular, he will examine the views of the Islamic jurists who believe that unveiling is permissible, unlike jurists with a traditional view.

Co-sponsored by the Women’s Studies Center, the Center for Humanities in an Urban Environment, Books & Books and WPBT, the event is free and open to the public.
