FIU to present Richard Ford with the 2013 Lawrence A. Sanders Award for Fiction


WHAT: FIU will honor the career of author Richard Ford with the fourth Lawrence A. Sanders Award for Fiction.  Ford, author of seven novels, including The Sportswriter, and four collections of short stories, including Rock Springs, received the Pulitzer Prize for fiction for his 1995 novel Independence Day.  The annual award is given by FIU to fiction writers whose work combines literary excellence with popular appeal. Past recipients include Scott Turow, Pat Conroy and Isabel Allende. The award presentation and address by Ford is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.
