New FIU Foundation Board of Directors members announced


The Foundation Board of Directors has appointed Oscar Suarez and Jose Valdes-Fauli as its newest members.

“We are very pleased to have these two individuals join FIU’s Foundation Board,” said Howard Lipman, President & CEO of the FIU Foundation and Senior Vice President for University Advancement. “They complement our current board members well, and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the existing board. We look forward to working together to achieve the Foundation’s vision.”

  • Oscar Suarez is the Florida Market Leader for Ernst and Young.  As such, he oversees all services provided by EY in Florida (Miami, Boca Raton, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville and Tallahassee).  Prior to this position, he was the Markets Leader for South Florida and the Miami Office Managing Partner (OMP). He has 31 years of public accounting experience, all of it based in South Florida. He has extensive experience in handling large multinational and SEC type engagements, both from a federal tax and international service-line perspective. At FIU, he’s a current and founding member of the College of Business Corporate Advisory Board. In December ’08, he was awarded the FIU Medallion for community service.
  • Jose Valdes-Fauli ’75 is a veteran of the banking industry and has held leadership positions as CEO and President at Beach Bank, Eastern National Bank, and Colonial Bank. Valdes-Fauli graduated from FIU with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1975 and previously served on the FIU Foundation Board for ten years beginning in 1999. He is a recipient of FIU’s Alumni Association Torch Award for Community Leadership and the Presidential Medallion for Outstanding Alumni.
