Medical school graduates make history

Thirty-three student pioneers and a medical school made history April 29, 2013, as the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine graduated its inaugural class.

The graduates first stepped onto the stage at the Nicole and Herbert Wertheim Performing Arts Center in 2009 eager to put on the white coat of a first-year medical student. It was a leap of faith for the students, entrusting their education to a new medical school. In March, they were back at the Wertheim for Match Day to learn where they would be completing their residencies. Earlier this week, they took the stage one final time, as doctors, ready to begin their new life as physicians.

Congratulations to the Class of 2013. Best wishes to all of them as they embark on the next leg of their journey in medical education: residency.
