U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz to address FIU College of Law graduates


Florida International University’s College of Law will confer 168 degrees on Friday, May 24, 2013.

To address the graduates before they officially embark on their new lives as attorneys, the Class of 2013 will hear from keynote speaker U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz.  Wasserman Schultz was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2004, and represents Florida’s 23rd Congressional district, which encompasses parts of Broward and Miami-Dade counties.  She has served the people of South Florida for more than 20 years.

“We are honored to have U.S. Representative Wasserman Schultz as our commencement speaker, whose career will inspire and motivate our graduates as they move forward in their professional endeavors,” said College of Law Dean R. Alexander Acosta.  “Our graduates’ efforts and accomplishments have brought distinction to FIU Law and have prepared them well to enter the legal profession.  Our faculty and staff wish them well as they embark on their legal career.”

The commencement ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the U.S. Century Bank Arena, 11200 SW 8 Street, in FIU’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus.
