Donate to FIU’s First Generation Scholarship Fund on Give Miami Day Nov. 20

The First Generation Scholarship Fund will once again be the focus of FIU’s fundraising efforts during The Miami Foundation’s 2nd annual Give Miami Day. The one-day, intense fundraising campaign will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20. This year, FIU also hopes it can hold onto the record it set in 2012, during the inaugural Give Miami Day, when the university’s supporters raised the most dollars for any participating South Florida university.

Additionally, all Give Miami donations to the First Generation Scholarship Fund are matched 100% by the State of Florida, more than doubling the impact of each gift. Supporting the fund assists students who are the first in their families to receive a college degree, and might not otherwise be able to attend college.

The unique 24-hour online Give Miami event helps build a greater Miami by allowing supporters to make charitable gifts to local nonprofits – like FIU. But even more unique is just how big of an impact every donated dollar can make through Give Miami. Any gift donated to the First Generation Scholarship on Give Miami Day has the potential to be matched twice, by both the Miami Foundation and the state!.That’s because all donations between $25 and $10,000 received through Give Miami Day will also have a percentage matched by The Miami Foundation
