Coley to go for all-time scoring record on Jan. 8 vs. Rice

Wednesday, Jan. 8, FIU sports fans will get a rare opportunity to be there in person as one of their own goes for an all-time scoring record. Senior standout basketball guard Jerica Coley will begin the team’s inaugural Conference USA game versus Rice only eight points shy of breaking the program’s all-time scoring record.

Coley goes after the 19-year-old record of 2,515 points, set by Panther Albena Branzova in 1995, beginning at 6 p.m. on the Lime Court at U.S. Century Bank Arena.

Coley currently ranks No. 2 in the nation in scoring and is averaging 28.7 points per game. She leads Conference USA as one of only two players with 300-or-more points this season. The 5-foot-7 guard comes into Wednesday’s action with 2,508 points and a streak of 43 games in which she has scored in double figures. The streak dates back to her junior year.

Students can gain free entry to the game by showing a current FIU I.D. card.
