PayByPhone option now available for campus parking

FIU Parking & Transportation is rolling out PayByPhone mobile parking payment service at several locations around campus. It’s the same service you’ve seen around town the last six years.

Fast, easy and convenient, PayByPhone offers drivers a convenient alternative to paying at the meter and includes the option to receive a text message reminder before your parking expires. You can even extend your parking session from anywhere.

How it works

1. If you have a smartphone, download the PayByPhone app and sign up for a free account with a credit card and license plate number. Your details are saved and automatically recognized each time you pay by phone. The app works on iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Amazon devices.

Don’t have a smartphone? Sign up online at paybyphone.com and call the toll free number (1-866-234-7275) posted on PayByPhone signage when paying for parking.

2. Look for PayByPhone stickers on parking meters. Once parked, simply input the location number posted and the amount of time needed. Five minutes before the parking time is up, PayByPhone sends you a text (carrier rates apply). At that point, you have the ability to add more time greatly reducing the chance of a violation.

3. Meters will show zero time and no proof of payment is required on your dashboard. Campus parking officers will be able to see all vehicles paid by phone on their handheld devices. Parking rates will be exactly the same whether using PayByPhone or the traditional parking meters.
