Our proposed expansion onto land adjacent to the FIU main campus will enhance our ability to create new jobs for the South Florida economy and produce greater student talent in engineering, the sciences, and entrepreneurship – areas that are state priorities and keys to economic development.

An initial economic impact of $1.8 billion and an additional annual recurring economic impact of $541million to our community, above the $8.9 billion FIU already provides.

More students should be able to have the opportunity of a high quality Higher Education and the expansion will offer that. Not only is FIU and economic generator for this community with job, it also gives an opportunity of an education to create new businesses which also creates jobs!

FIU really does need to expand — to give all of the students and community members what they deserve, the University has to have the resources in terms of buildings, space, and the rest. Miami deserves the opportunities which this expansion will bring.

Without authorization to move onto adjacent land, FIU future growth and new accomplishments will be constrained. Surveying a map of the area it almost looks like the early pioneers intended that a top tier public university for Miami would occupy the full space. Now is the time.
This acquisition of the property next to the school’s main campus expands the destiny of many people who are not even born yet think about that! It will be for FIU a major turning point in the future and quality of the education and it’s resources that effect the everyday lives of this community in so many ways it is hard to describe.
