Any student who has taken the Golden Panther Express (GPE) or CATS shuttle has probably experienced the feeling of dread as they watch their ride drive away in the distance. In response to students’ requests for real-time tracking, Parking and Transportation has announced it now offers, PantherTrack, a service through mobile app, TransLoc.TransLocAlert1

“We’re very excited about the use of transformational technologies that help enhance our student services by providing real-time information,” said Tom Hartley, executive director of parking and transportation.

So, what does the app do?

GPS Tracking
TransLoc allows riders to know the exact location of buses and shuttles at all times. It even gives a countdown to arrival time, automatically adjusting for traffic or other delays.

Alerts
Riders can set and receive alerts on their phone when their bus is arriving.

TransLoc_TextSMS Text Messaging
Don’t want to use the app? Text FIU [Stop Code] to 41411 and receive real-time arrival times via SMS text messaging. For example, the stop codes for Lot 3 (Graham Center) location is 102. Stop codes can be found here.

To see the real-time data, available for the GPE and CATS Shuttle, visit fiu.transloc.com or download the rider app for iPhone or Android.
