At a commencement ceremony in 2004, Professor and Associate Dean in the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management Mohammed Qureshi got to see a number of his former students receive the diplomas they worked hard to attain.
But one of his students, Melissa Morejon, presented Qureshi with an award for helping her through difficulties she faced with math concepts in one of his classes.
“She introduced me to her family and said that I was the reason she was graduating that day,” Qureshi recalls.
Did you have a professor who went above and beyond to help you overcome the obstacles you faced in the classroom? How did you express your appreciation for their efforts?

I have more than two professors who went above and beyond to overcome obstacles I faced in the classroom. They are very nice and respected professor back at me in University of Regina, because of my World Records I hold for Down Syndrome Swmming.
Well deserved! Mohammed is an FIU treasure. Whether he is helping a student, assisting a faculty member or accommodating a staffer, he is always congenial and goes above and beyond – every time.
Prof. Qureshi,
Congratulations! Well-deserved.
Happy to see that students remember what they received.

I am really happy to see that students are also giving award to teachers, as a teacher in profession today I am really.
