Jose M. Aldrich named acting dean of College of Business

Jose M. Aldrich has been named acting dean of the College of Business, starting May 6. He takes over the position now held by David R. Klock, who will remain with FIU as a professor. Aldrich is currently vice dean of administration at the college.

The university will begin the search for a permanent dean for the College of Business this fall, Provost and Executive Vice President Kenneth G. Furton said in a memo announcing the appointment.

“I look forward to continuing the momentum that has been built at the College of Business over the years, through the work of our outstanding leadership, faculty and staff,” Aldrich said. “I also welcome the opportunity to work with our alumni and business community to further benefit our students.”

Aldrich joined the college in November of 2013 following a 35-year career at KPMG LLP. As managing partner in charge of KPMG LLP’s tax practice in Latin America, Aldrich managed an organization of more than 1,800 professionals and 114 partners, redirecting the strategic vision of 16 different country practices to build a regional practice.

Aldrich also led KPMG’s South Florida Tax Practice and its New York-based Americas Tax Center. He is a licensed attorney and certified public accountant in the state of Florida.

During his nearly two-year tenure at FIU, Aldrich has led the College of Business’ internal finance and management information systems teams, assisting the dean in strategic and operational planning. While at KPMG, he served as a member of the FIU Foundation as well as the College of Business’ Dean’s Council, and was Dean’s Council chair for two years.

Klock has been at the helm of the College of Business since October of 2012, when he was appointed dean and Ryder Eminent Scholar in Business. In these three years, Klock recruited more than 40 new faculty members and developed opportunities for students consistent with the State of Florida’s new performance funding requirements.
