President Mark B. Rosenberg sent the following letter to the university community.
Dear Panther family,
Our FIU Homecoming is right around the corner!
In 50 days, our FIU will be transformed into a sea of blue and gold. Once again, we’ll call home our alumni – and welcome our community – for a week of rallies, concerts, parades and other exciting events that highlight our many traditions, accomplishments and student-athletes.
It’s the first week of the fall semester, but let’s keep the summer vibes alive! What better way to countdown to Homecoming than with a giant pool party with your entire Panther family? Please join us this afternoon from 2 – 6 p.m. on the housing quad for Splash 50! There will be a special guest DJ, as well as contests and giveaways. Don’t forget to bring your floats and sunscreen!
And if you haven’t done so already, mark your calendars for Homecoming Week 2016 which will run from October 16 – 22. There is a lot happening, but some special highlights include:
The biggest live show is better than ever this year! 2 Chainz, Lil Dicky and Makj will take the stage on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. Limited free student tickets are available at the FIU One Card office. To purchase floor and guest tickets, please click here.
- Panther Prowl Comedy Show
This year, comedian Nick Swardson will take the stage at the FIU Arena on Wednesday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m. Limited free student tickets are available at the FIU One Card office.
- Homecoming Parade
Floats, spirit cars, and walking brigades – there is no better way to get ready for the big game than the Homecoming Parade! Come cheer on your fellow Panthers and community members on Saturday, October 22 at 2:30 p.m. For this year’s parade participation packet, please click here.
- Homecoming Game
Following the parade, let’s rattle the cage at 7:00 p.m. for the big game against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this!

I urge you to take part in all of the festivities, give back, and support our FIU. This is going to be good!
