Enter to win the opportunity to experience global careers in D.C.

If you’re seeking a career where you can make the world a better place, FIU has the opportunity for you. We’re looking for undergraduate students who want to see first-hand how federal government agencies and nonprofit organizations do a world of good through diplomacy and international development.

To enter the 2016-17 Transformation Contest, FIU undergraduate students can share a life-changing international or intercultural experience through an artistic or informational medium.

Last year’s contest three winners –Nannette Boza, Maria Pulido-Velosa, and Victoria Mendez – shared original paintings, poetry and videos on how their international travel, family abroad and charity work have transformed their understanding of the world.

They enjoyed a two-day visit to the headquarters of the Peace Corps, the State Department’s 24 hour global operations center and two non-profit organizations – FHI360 and Oxfam America.  The 36-hour visit also included a meet-and-greet with U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and a tour of FIU’s new Washington, D.C. federal relations center

“Our visits gave us a complete view on how the non-profit development industry works in D.C.,” Pulido-Velosa said.  “It was useful to understand possible career paths and steps that need to be taken to land a job or internship.”

Students have until noon on Jan. 20 to submit their original entries. Winners will be announced in February and the trip to Washington, D.C. will take during the first week of May 2017.
