In a nutshell: I am ambitious, reliable, adaptable and resourceful. I always strive to be genuine and provide those around me with opportunities for growth and give them a platform to succeed.  

Number of years at FIU: I have been at FIU for a total of 15 years – 5 as a student (undergrad and graduate school) and 10 as an employee (Office of Engagement, Honors College and Athletics).

What do you enjoy most about your job? That we are strategic, driven by purpose. We understand the “WHY”. All of our initiatives strive to make an impact.

What should students and fellow faculty/staff know about your department?  We are driven by our mission and strive to be effective connectors. We also know how to get it done.  

Where is your favorite spot on campus? Our campus entrances. Why? I always enjoy coming back to campus after some time away and driving through the double arches or the rotunda from the 8th street or 16th entrance. There is something about FIU’s vibrancy and energy that makes it feel like home.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about FIU?  I wish everyone knew the dedicated and amazing people who are a part of our community. From our students to our faculty and staff, they are unique in their passion and make FIU different from any other university.

How do you help make FIU “Worlds Ahead?” At Engagement our job is to connect the resources and scholarship of FIU to our community to help address issues and leverage opportunities that build a better and stronger community. Our work demonstrates how FIU is forward-thinking and community-focused, leveraging our strengths to help others. A rising tide lifts all boats.

What is playing on your Spotify? Leadership Podcasts. I love to listen to as many leadership podcasts as I can because they help me grow as a professional, expand my knowledge base to become a better leader for my team and leverage what I learned to help FIU.

Your proudest accomplishment: My son! As well as being the first in my family to go to college.

What do you do when you are not working at FIU? I am a big family man. When I get a chance, I love spending time with my entire family.
