The summer is flying by! We’re wrapping up July and gearing up for August and the fall semester to come. But before we do, let’s take a look back and enjoy some of our favorite FIU moments and images from the month, captured by FIU photographers.

If you didn’t make it to SummerFest 2017, you missed out! DJ Ookay was one of the many incredible performers at this year’s edition of the annual electronic dance music concert, which brings a one of a kind experience to campus. Photo by Carl-Frederick Francois

They’re probably gonna need a bigger boat. FIU’s Mike Heithaus, marine scientist and dean of the College of Arts, Sciences & Education, starred in Devil Sharks, which aired July 26 during Discovery Channel’s Shark Week. Heithaus and a team of FIU researchers went volcanic islands around the world in search of answers to uncover why volcanoes become hotspots for sharksPhoto courtesy of FIU post-doctoral researcher Jeremy Kiszka

Just look at the flowers! Graduate student Daniela Salazar founded Eternispring, a flower delivery business that eliminates unnecessary intermediaries between farmers and customers by providing them with fresh, preserved roses directly from Ecuador. Photo by Doug Garland

Earlier this month, FIU was named one of the “Great Colleges to Work For” in The Chronicle of Higher Education’s ninth annual report on The Academic Workplace. We are very proud of that distinction! Photo by Carl-Frederick Francois

The world is yours. The FIU football team recently spent the day in Brickell to shoot an introduction video that will play before home games this season. Can you believe football season starts in less than a month?! Photo by Maria Roman
