Homecoming 2017 begins this weekend with Panthermonium


On Thursday, Oct. 26, President Mark B. Rosenberg sent the following message to the university community.

Dear FIU family,

Homecoming Week begins this weekend!

It’s time to Unleash the Spirit! Please join us for an exciting week of rallies, concerts, parades and so much more from Saturday, Oct. 28 to Saturday, Nov. 4.

Our FIU Homecoming committees have worked hard to put together an exciting lineup of events! Some special highlights include:

  • Panthermonium: Rise of a Legend
    21 Savage and Tory Lanez will take the stage on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at FIU’s Ocean Bank Convocation Center. All free student tickets have sold out, however general admission tickets are available. For more information, please visit fiu.edu/hctickets.
  • Unleash the Crown – Court Pageant
    Who’s going to take the crown this year? Find out on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. in the GC Ballrooms, when we showcase our student homecoming court. The annual celebration will feature a 007 Gala theme that will definitely leave you… shaken. This event is open to all; no tickets required.
  • Trail of the Torch
    Join our FIU Student Ambassadors for the lighting of the torch of hope, knowledge and opportunity on Monday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m.on the MMC Housing Quad. There will be food, entertainment, giveaways and a special concert. BBC will also host their own Trail of the Torch (as a part of their Block Party) on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. at Panther Plaza and Parking Lot 2. Both events are open to all; no tickets required.
  • LXV Lounge: Haunted Masquerade
    Homecoming and Halloween are better together! Join us on Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 7 – 11 p.m. in the BBC Wolfe University Center Ballrooms for a night of free food, giveaways and dancing! This event is open to all; no tickets required.
  • Panther Prowl: Watch the Throne
    Get ready for a night of laughter with comedian Jay Pharoah on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at FIU’s Ocean Bank Convocation Center. Tickets are $25 online and $35 at the door. For more information, please click here.
  • Panthers Got Talent
    Our FIU family will take center stage at this year’s Panthers Got Talent show on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 5:30 p.m. at FIU’s Ocean Bank Convocation Center. During the show, the FIU faculty/staff homecoming king and queen will also be announced. This event is open to all; no tickets required.

On the big day, Saturday, Nov. 4, there is also a full day of activities:

  • Homecoming Parade
    Floats, spirit cars, and walking brigades – there is no better way to get ready for the big game than the Homecoming Parade! And this year’s Grand Marshal will be our very own alumnus and distinguished poet, Richard Blanco!Come cheer on your fellow Panthers and community members from 3 – 4:30 p.m.  To register to participate in the parade, please click here.
  • Roar Lounge
    Leave the grill at home and join our family-friendly tailgate party at the Roar Lounge from 4 – 6:30 p.m. on the Parkview Lawn! There will be music, food, drinks, giveaways, appearances by the FIU Marching Band and much more. For more information and to register, please click here.
  • Tailgating
    Tailgating is an essential part of Homecoming! For guidelines, a campus tailgating map or to register your group, please click here.
  • Homecoming Game
    It all leads up to this! Let’s rattle the cage at 7 p.m. for the big game against the University of Texas at San Antonio. The Lighting of the Torch Ceremony will also take place and during halftime the student homecoming king and queen will be announced. Students enter for free using their FIU OneCard.
