March 2018 in photos

March was the worst month in FIU history. As the university community mourns the victims of the pedestrian bridge collapse, we continue in service of our students and community. Below are some of the moments our photographers captured this month.

On March 19 at 1:47 p.m., the FIU community paused for a moment of silence to honor the victims of the Southwest 8th Street pedestrian bridge collapse. As FIU and Florida state flags flew at half-mast, members of the Student Government Association joined hands with students, faculty and staff outside the Graham Center. Photo by Doug Garland

A public memorial service was held March 23 in the Graham Center to celebrate the life of FIU student Alexa Duran, one of the victims of last week’s pedestrian bridge tragedy. The service was hosted by Duran’s sorority, Alpha Xi Delta. A photo tribute was prepared by her sorority sisters, many of whom also shared their fondest memories of Duran from the podium.
