That’s it? Just like that, the shortest month of the year has come to a close.
February was filled with exciting events such as the annual Uproar concert and major accomplishments like the FIU swimming and diving team capturing their fourth straight conference title. The month also included heartbreak as Panthers came together to mourn the lives lost in the Majory Stoneman Douglas shooting on Valentine’s Day.

Sheila Lopez completed a liberal studies degree in the summer of 2017 and went straight into full-time employment as a program technician with the USDA Farm Service Agency in Florida City. She is one of several alumni featured in an upcoming FIU Magazine spread that details the university’s efforts to prepare workforce-ready graduates to fill a variety of public and private sector jobs within the state. Psychology senior Angelic Cox created “The Jerk Man Burger” and won this year’s Red Robin Golden Robin contest, earning a $10,000 scholarship and a chance to be featured on the Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews menu in the next year.
