FIU welcomed this week the first Chinese delegation to participate in the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine’s International Visiting Physician Observership Program.

Dr. Eneida Roldan, HWCOM and Dr. Carlos Rey, Hialeah Hospital, with the visiting physicians from China.

“It is a pleasure to welcome the delegation from the First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology in China,” says Dr. Eneida Roldan, associate dean for International Affairs and CEO of FIU HealthCare Network. “This collaboration further solidifies the footprint of Florida International University in the global market.”

The nine visiting physicians practice at Anhui Provincial Hospital in Hefei, China.

“FIU has given us a very warm Miami welcome and my colleagues and I are looking forward to an exciting learning experience,” says Dr. Nianan He, chief physician at First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology.

The 3-month-long program consists of one month of medical English classes in collaboration with FIU’s English Language Center; eight weeks of medical observership rotation at Hialeah Hospital; and Basic Life Support and Emergency Medicine training through FIU’s Department of Emergency Management.

The Office of International Affairs at the College of Medicine has hosted more than 918 students from 133 universities across 29 countries this fiscal year, 2018-2019.
