The following message was sent to the university community by President Mark B. Rosenberg.
The South Florida community came out last night for a friendly crosstown rivalry: our FIU Panthers versus the Miami Hurricanes. As you know, FIU took the win in spectacular fashion, with a final score of 30-24, bringing our record to 6-5.
I want to thank Coach Davis, the assistant coaches and, of course, our players for a great game and for rousing our Panther spirit. Their play, along with the support of our band and the cheer teams, provided an opportunity for students, alumni, faculty and staff to enjoy a thrilling night.
Even as some had us losing and a few Panther fans expressed doubts going into the matchup, FIU has a history of exceeding expectations. As we celebrate our victory and head into Thanksgiving week, I want to thank each and every one of you who helps make FIU a great place every day.
