Pedestrian bridge accident: One year later

March 15, 2019 at 12:00am

On Friday, March 15, President Mark B. Rosenberg sent the following message to the university community.

Today marks one year since the Southwest 8th Street pedestrian bridge accident.

The FIU flag will fly at half-staff to remind us of the lives lost and the families shattered. Our FIU family will never forget. Our hearts are heavy.

This afternoon at  1:30 p.m. we will gather for a moment of silence at the  Betty Chapman Plaza  at  MMC. It will begin at 1:47 p.m. and the GC bells will ring six times, once for each of the victims. BBC will also livestream the moment of silence in the Wolfe University Center’s Panther Square.

The moment will be livestreamed at  webcast.fiu.edu and  FIU’s Facebook page.

We hope that you will join us wherever you are.
