Eighteen years later, the university community gathered at the Graham Center Pit to remember the victims of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
"9/11 was one of the worst days in American history, yet it is a somber reminder that there are brave people[who] are willing to risk it all to help others," said Celia Pena-Gomez, a senior political science major and English minor in attendance. "While this is a tragic and sad day in our history that we must never forget, it is a true testament to the community and bravery of the American people and everything we represent."
To pay tribute to the victims, honor those who rose in service in response to the attacks and remind people of the importance of working more closely together in peace, FIU will observe the 9/11 Day of Service on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Biscayne Bay Campus.
