The football team made history on Saturday night when they defeated the University of Miami at Marlins Park, 30-24. The university claimed its first victory over UM in football and the Panthers became bowl-eligible for the third year in a row.

Here are some of our favorite moments from FIU's win over the Hurricanes, as captured by FIU photographer Margi Rentis.

The historic night began at the tailgate, where these Panther fans were playing dominos.

Kicker Jose Borregales warms up. He hit three field goals on the night, one of which tied an FIU record (53 yards).

The football team sported these custom “Miami Lights” helmets for their cross-town competition.

Senior Anthony Jones escapes UM defenders to score FIU’s third touchdown of the game, a 37-yard run in the fourth quarter that put the Panthers up 30-17.

The Miami Hurricanes didn’t have the lead once.

The Panthers mimic bowling pins to celebrate another season of bowl game eligibility.

The players climb into the stands to celebrate with the fans.
