FIU adds graduate programs to top 50 ranking among public universities
Graduate programs in four FIU colleges are ranked among the top 50 among public universities, according to recent U.S. News & World Report rankings.
FIU’s College of Business, Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences, College of Law, and the Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs have programs in U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 Best Graduate Schools.
Among the highlights from the rankings:
- In the College of Business, the master’s degree in international business ranked No. 3 among public universities.
- In the College of Law, the part-time law program ranked No. 10 among public universities, and the full-time law program ranked No. 48. Other specialty programs also ranked high, including international law (No. 22), legal writing (No. 34), and constitutional law (No. 49).
- In the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences, the master’s in nursing ranked No. 42 among public universities, and the doctorate program in nursing ranked No. 46. Several specialized nurse practitioner programs ranked high, including those specializing in adult-gerontology primary care (No. 16), pediatric primary care (No. 16), and psychiatric-mental health (No. 29). The clinical nurse leader program ranked No. 29. The master’s in occupational therapy ranked No. 42.
- In the Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs, the master’s in public affairs ranked No. 45 among public universities and the master’s in public management and leadership ranked No. 27.

The rankings are a direct result of our dedication to student success.”
FIU now has 44 top-50 programs, adding to its previous total. These include top rankings for its undergraduate international business program (No. 2) and as a Top Performer for Social Mobility (No. 10) in U.S. News & World Report.
The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education also ranks FIU R1: Doctoral Universities – Highest Research Activity. For the first time, FIU also recently surpassed $200 million in annual research expenditures.
U.S. News & World Report has been providing education rankings, which are used by parents and students to select schools, since 1983.
