FIU to host Homecoming Caravan Oct. 10

September 28, 2020 at 9:00am

FIU Homecoming is just around the corner. The university will celebrate with an entire week of activities, culminating with Homecoming Day on Saturday, Oc. 10, when the Panthers take on Middle Tennessee State University’s Blue Raiders.

To celebrate another successful week of homecoming, and to abide by physical distancing restrictions due to COVID-19, FIU’s President’s Council will be hosting its first-ever Homecoming Caravan in place of the traditional Homecoming Parade.

Students, faculty, staff, alumni, retirees and the community are invited to showcase their spirit, deck out their cars in Panther pride and join the caravan route. Vehicles that reflect the most Panther spirit will be entered into a social media competition. The winner will be announced on FIU’s Instagram account after the event and will receive a RepFIU box with assorted gear.

President Mark B. Rosenberg will attend and serve as a judge to select the finalists.

To participate in the Homecoming caravan, register no later than Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Participants need to arrive no later than 3 p.m. to LOT 9, where the caravan will kick-off at 3:30 p.m. Final decorations to vehicles can be made in Lot 9, which will be available beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Only cars and SUVs will be allowed to participate in the caravan. No floats or open platform vehicles are permitted.

Particpants are asked to physical distance and only share vehicles with family members in the same household.
