FIU has launched a web page to inform the university community about coronavirus.

The page provides answers to frequently asked questions, lists FIU policies regarding health and safety and outlines steps the university has taken to prevent spread of the contagion. Messages from the administration, including President Mark B. Rosenberg, also appear there as do links to other sources of information.

At this time, FIU is fully operational. No cases of coronavirus have been reported at the university.

FIU has a coordinated plan in place to deal with the threat of coronavirus (also known as COVID-19). University officials have been meeting daily, and the situation is being closely monitored. Decisions are being made with the wellbeing of students, faculty and staff as the top priority.

The university encourages everyone to make personal plans should the general situation change or an individual illness necessitate quarantine. These include storing a 14-day supply of food and other items, among them medications that one takes regularly. Additionally, simple steps to reduce the risk of infection should be followed by everyone at all times, such as washing hands or using alcohol-based hand sanitizer; refraining from touching one’s face; covering one’s mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing; avoiding close contact with those who are coughing and sneezing; and staying home when one feels ill.
