The smell of lechon asado (roasted pork), turkey and fresh-baked Christmas cookies takes over many South Florida homes over the holidays. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, this time of year is about spending time with family and friends and feasting on the season's best eats.

While COVID-19 may limit the size of gatherings, it doesn't mean you have to cut back on the food. This year, you can cook less and eat more for a good cause with the return of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival® Home for the Holidays Dinner and the return of the LBS Bake Sale to benefit the hospitality industry.

There are four gourmet dinner packages and more than 10 foodie-approved holiday care packages to choose from by some of South Florida's most celebrated chefs. There's something for every palate—including special holiday cookies by Night Owl Cookies; Dim Sum Box of goodness from Tropical Chinese restaurant; and a Bento Box of pulled pork, juicy turkey, cornbread and smoked pit beans by Hometown Barbeque.

The first go-around of the SOBEWFF holiday dinner package, Thanksgiving Table To-Go, raised between $20,000 to $25,000 toward hospitality relief efforts and more than 730 pounds of non-perishable goods for the FIU Student Food Pantry.

Back in April, the original LBS Bake Sale, which benefited the SOBEWFF® & FIU Chaplin School Hospitality Industry Relief Fund, raised thousands more.

“To cater to everyone doing their part by staying home for the holidays, we have curated several gourmet holiday dinners paired with the return of items from our highly successful bake sale, which raised more than $100,000 for relief efforts earlier this year,” said SOBEWFF® Founder and Director Lee Brian Schrager.

The SOBEWFF® dinner packages vary in size for two to four guests and allow you to choose Spanish roast pork or slow-roasted beef tenderloin. All dinners come with four sides, freshly-baked bread, dessert and even liquor to toast with during your celebration. The LBS Bake Sale items are sold à la carte.

Orders must be placed on-line at sobewff.org/holiday by noon Sunday, Dec. 20. Meals will be available for drive-thru, contactless pickup from noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24.

During pickup, participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable, canned goods that will be donated to the Miami Rescue Mission. For every donation, purchasers will be entered to win a pair of SOBEWFF® 2021 tickets.

One hundred percent of net proceeds will benefit the local hospitality industry. In addition, all donations will be matched by Badia Spices.

“I’d also like to give a special thanks to Pepe Badia of Badia Spices, who matched funds from earlier bake sales and has once again agreed to match the funds raised by this effort to support our hospitality industry,” added Schrager.
