The following message from Provost and Executive Vice President Kenneth G. Furton was shared with the university community on October 14, 2020.

At FIU, our top priority continues to be the health and well-being of our students, faculty and staff.

In order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 on our campuses, FIU has removed Spring Break 2021 from the academic calendar.

The Spring semester will still begin as scheduled on January 11, 2021 and will end on April 24, a week earlier than originally planned. Please see the updated FIU Academic Calendar for more information.

Spring Break is a time when students have traditionally traveled and gathered in large numbers. Given that COVID-19 continues to pose significant health risks, the university has decided to cancel Spring Break in an abundance of caution.

As part of our COVID-19 mitigation efforts, it is very important that all students, faculty and staff complete the Panthers Protecting Panthers (P3) Online Safety Screening Questionnaire before the start of each day on campus. This questionnaire can be filled out using the P3 app. If you haven’t already done so, please download the app from the Google Play or Apple store.

For additional information, please visit our Panthers Protecting Panthers website.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work together to keep our FIU healthy.
