March 19, 2021 at 12:26pm

On Friday, March 19, 2021, Academic Minute ran a segment featuring Rokeshia Renné Ashley, assistant professor of communication in CARTA.

Ashley discussed her research on colorism, specifically on how Black women in South Florida communicate about, receive and understand health information related to skin whitening. It’s a practice many women in South Florida have brought from Caribbean countries, where it is more commonplace due to the history of colonialism.
