FIU CasaCuba and Cuban Banking Study Group to offer scholarly resources on Cuban banking and financial systems
FIU CasaCuba, and the Cuban Banking Study Group (CBSG) have partnered to meet current and emerging educational needs within the FIU scholarly community and beyond, on the history and future outlook of the Cuban banking and financial system.
FIU CasaCuba – Florida International University’s developing cultural center for the preservation and celebration of Cuban heritage and the study of Cuban affairs – seeks to partner with community organizations such as CBSG to fulfill its mission as a hub for Cuban arts, culture and scholarship. Through this new partnership, FIU CasaCuba and CBSG will offer joint professional development resources, executive roundtables and academic lectures, as well as public events related to the history of Cuban banking and the engagement of future leaders in the banking industry.
“It is an honor to join forces with Cuban Banking Study Group, a distinguished community organization that shares FIU CasaCuba’s mission to educate and inspire the next generations, while ensuring that our history and legacy are never forgotten,” said María Carla Chicuén, founding executive director of FIU CasaCuba.
Founded in 1992 as a non-profit and membership-based organization, CBSG is comprised of professional bankers of Cuban origin with diverse backgrounds and experiences. CBSG is dedicated to the study of the Cuban banking and financial system from its inception to the present. The organization has published studies and hosts events available to members and the public at large in furtherance of its mission statement.
