FIU is one of nine colleges and universities selected to participate in the American Council on Education’s (ACE) Learner Success Laboratory (LSL).
LSL is part of a suite of Transformation Labs offered by ACE to guide colleges and universities through a structured strategic planning process to advance critical institutional priorities. Participants will work over a period of 12 to 18 months to integrate evidence-based practices for persistence and completion, life design and career exploration, and workforce skills development, ultimately producing a comprehensive strategy for learner success.
This cohort will officially begin work in the fall with a virtual opening meeting.
“The LSL team at FIU is excited to participate in this opportunity to develop pathways to support our adult learners,” said Elizabeth Bejar, senior vice president for Academic & Student Affairs. “FIU continues to develop innovative solutions to serve our learners and the LSL experience will provide us with guidance and support to reach our goals related to this initiative.”
"If we have learned anything over the past year as the pandemic plunged the world into upheaval, it is the importance of centering learners and supporting them on their path to success," said Lindsey Myers, director of the Learner Success Lab. "This year's cohort is prepared to meet that challenge head-on and we are proud to assist them with that goal."
The other institutions in the cohort are:
  • CETYS University (Mexico)
  • Clarke University
  • Lewis University
  • New Jersey City University
  • Rowan College at Burlington County
  • Southern University at Shreveport
  • Washington State University Tri Cities
  • Western Illinois University
The diverse selection of participants includes three minority-serving institutions and LSL’s first international institution.
