FIU to hold Information session on DACA ruling

The Carlos A. Costa Immigration and Human Rights Clinic will host an information session on Wednesday, July 21.

July 16, 2021 at 9:22pm

President Rosenberg sent the following message to the FIU community tonight.

Dear members of the university community:

Today, a federal district court judge in Texas entered an order ruling that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program violates federal law. The court, however, stayed the ruling as it applies to current DACA recipients, and as a result, we understand that current recipients, at this time, are not affected by this ruling.

The order also provides that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) may continue to accept both new DACA applications and renewal DACA applications yet the ruling prohibits DHS from approving, at this time, any new applications.

Our Carlos A. Costa Immigration and Human Rights Clinic will host an information session next Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in GC 243.

At FIU, we are monitoring the situation closely and intend to stay in touch with you regarding any further developments.

Sincerely yours,
