FIU will provide Pfizer vaccine for 12 to 15-year-olds

Dear FIU family,

Now that U.S. health officials have authorized the use of the Pfizer vaccine for 12 to 15-year-olds, FIU will make the vaccine available to children ages 12-15 who reside in the same household with an FIU student, faculty, staff or retiree.

First doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be available to 12 to 15-year-olds, as well as students, faculty, staff and retirees, on Wednesday, May 19. Eligible children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Vaccine appointments are now open and will be given on a first come, first served basis. Please register for an appointment as soon as possible using your FIU credentials. Please note that the Pfizer vaccine requires a second shot three weeks after the first shot. You or the child being vaccinated must return for the second dose on Wednesday, June 9.

At FIU, we strive to help our Panther family stay safe and healthy. Please remember that vaccinated or not, we must all continue to observe COVID-19 mitigation guidelines. The use of face coverings is strongly encouraged while indoors. Also, before arriving on campus each day, every member of the university community must complete the P3 app questionnaire. Together, we can ensure everyone’s wellbeing as we bring more of the university community back to our campuses safely.
