On Tuesday, President Mark B. Rosenberg welcomed Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Vice Chair of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners Oliver G. Gilbert to FIU and the university's vaccination site.

FIU opened its vaccination site in January and recently relocated it to the Graham Center. The site, in collaboration with the Florida Department of Health, has administered more than 14,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines to encourage and facilitate students, faculty and staff getting their shots.

FIU also opened two additional mobile vaccination sites on Saturday leading up to the start of the fall semester. The mobile units, which are a partnership between Miami-Dade County and the Florida Department of Health, are located on the Modesto A. Maidique Campus and the Biscayne Bay Campus.
