Miami-Dade and Broward counties are currently out of the cone of Tropical Storm Elsa. At FIU, we continue to monitor updates closely because conditions can change quickly. Our university’s emergency operations center remains activated.
This is not the time to let your guard down. Although it looks like our area is not in the path of the storm, it is likely that we will see deteriorating weather conditions on Monday, July 5. Please be careful. We expect the university will operate as scheduled with no changes on Tuesday, July 6.
As a reminder: The Green and Hubert libraries will close at 6 p.m. today and will remain closed on Monday for the holiday. The Curative COVID-19 testing stations on campus also will be closed on Monday.
It is still early in the hurricane season and now is a good time to make sure you are hurricane ready. For tips on what to do, please visit the FIU Department of Emergency Management website or Miami-Dade County’s Hurricane Guide.
FIU has a communication protocol to keep the community informed about university operations during emergencies, including storms.
Please look for emails, follow FIU on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, check FIU News and monitor local media for updates.
