On the eve of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the FIU community gathered at the GC Pit to remember and honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on that fateful day.

“During 9/11, we united to care for one another, to support one another and to face uncertainty together,” said Anthony DeSantis, assistant vice president for Student Affairs and Director of the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs “it is my hope that we will continue to support each other and our country, every day.”

Student leaders Alex Rubido, Student Government Association president and Ari Salzman, Theta Chi president, shared the united sentiment to never forget and invited the audience to place a candle along a silhouette of the United States to honor 9/11 victims.
