Vaccines available for students, faculty, staff and eligible household members
Dear FIU family,
FIU has again received a limited number of Pfizer vaccines that will be made available to students, faculty, staff and eligible members of their households.
First doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be available on Friday, May 7, to students, faculty, staff and household members 18 and older, or those 16 and older accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Vaccine appointments are now open and will be given on a first come, first served basis. If you are eligible based on the criteria listed above, please register for an appointment as soon as possible using your FIU credentials. Please note that the Pfizer vaccine requires a second shot three weeks after the first shot. You must commit to return for the second dose on May 26.
While our goal is to facilitate access to vaccines for our university community, we urge you to take advantage of the first available opportunity to get vaccinated. There are multiple locations locally where you may receive a vaccine.
If you secure a vaccine elsewhere before the time of your FIU appointment, please cancel your appointment by calling 305-348-5100 so that it can be offered to someone else. We need your cooperation in making sure not a single vaccine goes to waste.
At FIU, we strive to help our Panther family stay safe and healthy. Please remember that vaccinated or not, we must all continue to wear face coverings and to observe COVID-19 mitigation guidelines. Also, before arriving on campus each day, every member of the university community must complete the P3 app questionnaire. Together, we can ensure everyone’s wellbeing as we bring more of the university community back to our campuses safely.
If you have any questions, please call the FIU Help Desk at 305-348-5100.
Sincerely,
Mark B. Rosenberg
President
