Meet the winners of North Miami Brewfest's best beer and bites

November 16, 2022 at 4:20pm

The 10th anniversary of the North Miami Brewfest is now in the books. More than 1,400 people showed up to taste more than 100 beers from South Florida's top craft breweries, home brewers and student brewers. In addition, attendees sampled more than 30 bites from the area's top restaurants, caterers and a BBQ maker.

Three brewers and eateries got bragging rights, after being voted the best brewer or best eatery by festivalgoers. For some of them, like Denise Rodriguez Smyth, half of the husband/wife team from 1st place Black Pit Brewing Co., the win is extra special; she's an FIU double alumna. In third place, winners Hannah Jazayri and Rudy Delgado of Rocketeer Beer & Liquid Provisions are also FIU alumni, who studied biology and computer science respectively.

"We're ecstatic. We want to open a brewery and this win is a pretty good affirmation that we should do it," said Jazayri.

And the rest of the winners are?

Best Brewery:

1st place Black Pit Brewing Co.
