FIU Theatre alumnus in Call of Duty Modern Warfare II
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is one of the largest franchises in video game history with an estimated player count of around 300 million. Alain Mesa '09 is the voice and likeness of Col. Alejandro Vargas, one of the main characters in this year's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
As FIU's AVP of Brand Marketing and a video game aficionado, I recently caught up with Mesa. He says this role reminded him of his time at FIU Theatre, where he was allowed to bring a few of his own ideas to the role and be more involved in what the final character brought to the audience versus some of his earlier voice work.
If you play big blockbuster games, chances are you have heard Mesa's voice. His voice was featured in Red Dead Redemption II, Saints Row, Forza Horizon 5, Uncharted 4 and Tom Clancy's The Division.
Mesa is a self-professed croqueta connoisseur and while he lives in Los Angeles you can catch him in Miami visiting family from time to time. He encourages students looking to break into the entertainment industry to move to New York or Los Angeles when starting out as most of the work is still being created there.
Please enjoy the interview above as much as I enjoyed speaking to Mesa.
