It is the season of giving and gratitude, a special time for all of us to take a well-deserved pause from our daily routines and celebrate all that is great in our lives.
Some of you may be traveling, doing outreach work in your communities, or hosting family and friends for a Thanksgiving meal. On a personal note, I am looking forward to spending as much time as I can with my family. However you choose to celebrate this holiday, I wish you much peace and joy.
It has been a year of many blessings for me. Being selected as FIU’s sixth president is the honor of a lifetime, and I am thankful to each member of the Panther family for your confidence and support.
Our university is thriving, and there is so much we should be thankful for at FIU. We celebrate our 50th anniversary on a very high note - our students are excelling academically, our faculty is steadfastly committed to innovation and research excellence, our staff is dedicated to taking this university to new heights, and our alumni and community members are among our greatest champions.
Thank you, Panthers, for your dedication to our university. It is because of you that FIU is exceptional and has had a stellar year in student achievement, research excellence and community impact.
I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
