Tropical Storm Nicole update: FIU operations remain normal

November 8, 2022 at 6:48pm

At FIU, we continue to monitor Tropical Storm Nicole, which has intensified and is expected to bring high winds, rain and coastal flooding to portions of Florida by Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning.

While the forecasted path of the storm has shifted slightly north of Miami-Dade County, our area remains under a tropical storm watch. Broward and Palm Beach counties are under multiple watches and warnings.

Any changes to university operations will be communicated to the university community immediately. Please continue to monitor your emails.

Also, please monitor local media and pay attention to updates from the National Hurricane Center throughout the next few days.

FIU has a communication protocol to keep the community informed about university operations during emergencies, including storms. Please look for emails, follow FIU on FacebookTwitter and Instagram and check FIU News and monitor local media for updates.

Storm preparation may be a new experience for many members of our university community. For tips on what to do, please visit the FIU Department of Emergency Management website or Miami-Dade County’s Hurricane Guide.

Thank you for your cooperation, and be safe.
