Raise a glass to the North Miami BrewFest
It’s the only beer festival in South Florida where a ticket includes both beer and food. Now, there’s another reason to toast to the North Miami BrewFest: Organizers of the event announced a discount to the FIU community.
Alumni, faculty, staff and students over 21 can use the promo code FIUFAM for a 15% discount on tickets. The festival is scheduled to take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, in a new location, NOMI Village on 123rd Street and NW 7th Avenue in North Miami.
“We love our FIU family and are so appreciative of their enthusiasm for this festival,” said Mohammad Qureshi, North Miami BrewFest director and faculty administrator. “We hope this discount will help our loyal fans and beer aficionados save a little, while supporting our students and school.”
FIU Hospitality alumni Alex Kuk ’04, MS’10 and Diego Ng '08, of Temple Street Eatery in Ft. Lauderdale, will be back this year.
North Miami BrewFest is in its 11th year. The one-day festival is produced by and benefits FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management.
More than 30 breweries and nearly 20 restaurants will be taking part in the event. More than half are FIU alumni-owned or operated and include some of the best breweries in South Florida and their one-of-a-kind beers, some made exclusively for the event. That includes the owners of Black Pit Brewing Company, who took 1st Place for Best Brewery last year. Guests get to vote for both their favorite brewery and best restaurant. Last year, The Barrel BBQ, also an FIU alumni operated business, took home best restaurant.
Best Brewer winners Black Pit Brewing Co., Bay 13 Brewery and Rocketeer Beer will be back in 2023.
There will also be student-made beers on tap. Follow NOMIBREWFEST on Instagram to find out who will be there.
The North Miami BrewFest mission is to contribute to brewing science education and innovation for the craft brew industry, brewpubs and home-brew organizations.
