North Miami BrewFest, Florida’s only craft beer festival produced by FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, takes place from 4-8 p.m. this coming Saturday, Nov. 16, at The NoMi Village in North Miami.

“North Miami BrewFest is a one-day beer festival where dozens of Florida’s top craft breweries showcase their unique creations, some made especially for the event,” said Michael Cheng, dean of the Chaplin School. More than a dozen restaurateurs also serve up delicious bites, plus the event includes live music, games and educational activities.

This year marks the 12th anniversary of the beer festival, which began as an idea of Chaplin School students and their professor. Ticket proceeds benefit the Chaplin School’s mission to contribute to brewing science education and innovation for the craft brew industry, brewpubs and homebrew organizations and its Bachelor of Science in Beverage Management degree.

Traditionally, half of event participants have been FIU alumni-owned or operated businesses. So far, the following breweries have signed on to participate: Black Pit Brewing Co., Unseen Creatures Brewing, Uncommon Path Brewing, Johnny Cuba, Tripping Animals Brewing, Beat Culture Brewing Co., Bay 13 Brewery & Kitchen, MIA Beer Co, The Tank, The Hallway Tap & Brew, Prison Pals Brewing Co., Conscious Brewing, Rocketeer Beer & Liquid Provisions, Magic 13 Brewing, Dancing Calavera Brewing, Alchemy and Hops Brew Lab, Wynwood Brewing and Cove Brewery.

Many local eateries will also be in attendance, such as: Chef K Provisions, Le Chick, Twin Dragon Hibachi, If and When Eats, Night Owl Cookies, El Desembarco Miami, Soulfull Biscuit, Crabs R Us, and French Bistro Argentinian Steakhouse. Students from FIU’s Bacardi Center of Excellence and FIU Bistro will also be showing off their gastronomic and cocktail creations.

Tickets are on sale at www.northmiamibrewfest.com and on Eventbrite
